MORE often than not, referees cop a bagging, but not last Saturday when Walcha hosted Barraba to play Group 4 Second Division games. Both Jamie Brown in the main game and Damian Blinman in the ladies league tag handed in polished performances. Well done.
TALK about from the penthouse to the outhouse in the space of a week – against Bingara recently, Roos prop Max Abraham was players’ player, receiving three group B+F points and three club B+F points. Last Saturday against Barraba, the big fella broke his arm in the opening minutes. Walcha Rugby League would like to wish Max a speedy recovery.
SERIOUS injuries aren’t helping the Roos. Key players including Lee Harrison, Dean Turner, Ben Moran and now Max Abraham are all on the sidelines for the rest of 2017. Hopefully, the rest of the squad can fly the flag.
CONGRATULATIONS to 2016 Walcha Golf Club champion Andrew Brennan who won the Castle Hill PGA trainee tournament. AJ shot a four under par 68.
