BEST wishes to Walcha Roos backrower Ben Green who suffered a horrific ankle injury last Sunday in the group 4 second division fixture between Walcha and Bundarra here at the Park. The game was abandoned due to the seriousness of Green’s injury and the time it took to transport “Poddy” from the ground in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Ben’s ankle was operated on last Sunday and hopefully he is now on the road to a speedy and full recovery.

MEMORIES would have come flooding back last Sunday with regard to the shocking knee injury Rams star Steve Hoy (a close relative of Benny Green) suffered 15 years ago nearly to the day against Barraba in 2002. “Roley” was at the ground last Sunday and was still present when Ben was airlifted from the field.
ONE of the first people on the scene after Ben suffered his injury was his father and Roos strapper David who assisted for nearly two hours as his son lay on the ground in agonising pain. “Grubby” doesn’t say too much at the best of times but one could only imagine what was going through his head during the ordeal.
Roos fullback Steve Eveleigh has had a great individual season where he hasn’t missed a minute of any game and there were 20 of them. According to my calculations, Dizzy has racked up 26 group best and fairest points...
ON a much lighter note, best of luck to the Walcha Rams this Saturday when they take on the Pirates in Tamworth for the right to host the 2017 Central North grand final. The loser of the game will take on the winner of the minor semi-final between Gunnedah and Narrabri after the Red Devils beat Scone and the Blue Boars caused an upset over Moree last weekend. Go the red and white Rams.
THE Jillaroos will finish their season on 38 competition points after they receive the bye this Saturday which looks like it won’t be quite enough to qualify for a major semi position as Uralla should finish on the same but with a better points for-and-against differential.
WHERE the Walcha Jillaroos will now play their minor semi-final is the big question, with the points score ladder favouring a trip to Bendemeer. With one round still remaining, Bendy are in third position on the main ladder, two points clear of Manilla and Bundarra with a much better for-and-against ratio. Even if Bendemeer are beaten by Werris Creek this Saturday, the team should still finish in third position.
