“The Walcha Hospital Auxiliary works with management to source suitable equipment for the hospital, for the Welfare of patients, residents and staff and this pertains to any department within the Health Service,” said secretary Vicki McIvor
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the community who continually support us with our fundraising ventures. We are very lucky to live in a town where all fundraising organisations get such great support. We are also seeking new members, so if you are keen to volunteer, give it a go.”
This past financial year, the Auxiliary have donated an astounding $16,899 worth of equipment.
The list includes: An Otoscope dispenser and battery charger worth $826; and electronic emergency department bed worth $8,039; a mobile bariatric shower chair worth $2,190; two Invisa bed beams worth $2,860 and two Invisa chair beams worth $1980 to alert staff to wandering patients.
The group also spent more than $1000 on Christmas gifts and a subscription to ‘Outback’ and ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ magazines for the patients and Elizabeth Crosse wing residents; baby bundles for newborns; emergency toiletry bags and accessories and garden supplies.
All this was achieved through fundraising activities such as catering for wakes and livestock sales, raffles, street stalls and garage sales.
At the end of the previous financial year the group donated $7,914.82 worth of equipment to the hospital.
