Katelyn Smith opened the New Addition Dance Studio back in January and she now has twenty students.
“I was inspired me to start my own dance studio because I had mothers come up to me in the street and ask if I would teach their kids how to dance,” said Ms Smith.
“Also knowing I am helping a boy or girl to live their dreams is a blessing in itself.”
Ms Smith teaches modern and contemporary dance as well as jazz and hip hop. Unique in the local area is the fact that she conducts a boys hip hop class.
“I've been dancing from a very young age but I stopped when I was about six-years-old and only started again four years ago,” Ms Smith said.
“I am very grateful to everyone who has supported me and my dance studio because you don't see many sixteen-year-olds running their own studio. It's greatly appreciated.”
The student’s end of year concert will be held on December 9 in the RSL Club.
Tickets are $5 each on the door and everyone is welcome.
