The Roos are currently part of Group 4 who scrapped their second division competition from next season to replace it with a first and reserve grade competition and the Walcha club isn’t entirely happy with the new format.
The club will meet with their players to make a decision on their playing options for 2018. President Michael Aspinall said, depending on the meeting’s outcome, they may make a move to apply to leave Group 4 in favour of the neighbouring Group 19 with concerns over the draw and being in a competition with towns with larger player numbers.
“They weren't 100 per cent sure with their playing days in Saturday and Sunday, players want to play on a Saturday because it is easier to have a good night and have a beer with your mates afterwards and have a day of relaxing before you go back to work on Monday,” he said.
“We are a bit worried about how the first grade down in Tamworth gets split up, the teams who haven't got reserve grade teams, they'll be fine, but when we go to play someone like Collegians or North Tamworth who have a first grade and reserve grade a few of their better players might drop back or something. We are only a small, little country town.”
