Local playgroup educators came together last Thursday to celebrate Simultaneous Storytime with a little help from Walcha based children’s author John Heffernan.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books.

Now in its 14th successful year it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using an Australian children’s book that explores age appropriate themes.

This year, ‘Too Many Elephants in this House’ written by Ursula Dubosarsky and illustrated by Andrew Joyner was read simultaneously in libraries, preschools, schools and childcare centres around the country.

The children helped Eric come up with a clever solution to a very big problem and had fun trumpeting through arts and craft.
