Tanisha joined 14 other girls for a weekend of public speaking and while she was beaten by Warialda showgirl Courtney Loosemore and Narrabri showgirl Ellen John, she says the experience was invaluable.
“The thing I found most challenging was having the confidence to stand in front of people,” said Tanisha.
“My after dinner speech was about how women can be more recognised in agriculture and the interview at lunch time focused on what I could do for the community and how I can achieve my goals.
Tanisha said her focus now as the 2017 Walcha Showgirl is to make an impression on the Walcha community and to improve the show.
“I want to encourage people of any age to join in and have fun,” she said.
“The thing that appealed to me about the showgirl competition is the ability to prove that no matter what path you go down you can always come back up and accomplish what you need to.”
