The ‘terrific trio’ posted a net score of 58½ to sneak home by ⅓ a point from Jon Izzard, Owen Presnell and his wife Julie.
THE current 3 Person Ambrose competition is sponsored by Simeon Cross, Fred Henry and David Dunn something ‘Simone’ and ‘Fredum’ have been involved with since it kicked off way back when Gary Kelleher was the other trophy donor which continued until Garry Joseph left us in 1996.
FORMER school teacher Dave Anderson then stepped up as the third prize supplier and did so up until he departed this world in October 2011. A few of his mates from Maclean then took over before David Dunn replaced them last year. It would be a nice touch if the annual event became the Dave Anderson Memorial.
WELL done to the Walcha Rams on finishing in second position on the Central North ladder after they came from behind to beat Moree at Moree last Saturday. After one full round of the competition it will now be divided into two tiers. Pirates were on top with 45 points followed by Rams 39 Moree 34 and Scone 30. It will take a very good performance from anyone of those top teams to upset Pirates.
ALTHOUGH the Jillaroos won their game against Dungowan last Saturday here at the Park they have fallen back to third position on their ladder behind Uralla who have the same competition points but a better points for and against. Kootingal lead on 29 followed by Uralla 26 , Jillaroos 26 and the Dungowan Cowgirls 23 Should be a fair bit of interest come semi final time.
THE Mens Group 4 Second Division fixture between the Roos and the Cowboys was certainly a game of two halves – played in one half of the ground that is.
Don’t know if there were poisoned spiders scattered throughout the Bowling Club end in goal area but there were no points scored at the part of the field. Walcha opened up an 18 - 0 lead at halftime before the visitors responded with 22 unanswered points of their own.
THE Roos are off to Bingara this Saturday to take on the Bullets and despite the Jillaroos having a bye this weekend the main game will still commence at 2.30 pm. Go the Roos.

IT WAS great to the the Rams reserve grade side field a full team on the weekend. While Moree ran away with it in the second half, the Walcha boys never stopped trying.
For an away clash against the top of the table team, Walcha can be very proud for taking it to them and despite the final score line (54-14) the regies will certainly give some teams a real shake in the second round.
BEST for Walcha were Hugh Morgan with 3 points, Chucky McGowan with 2 points and 1 point each to Olly Crawford (players player) and Harry Locke.
