Community consultation and support is being sought for the projects, prioritised by Council at the last Ordinary Meeting. These are the building of a new preschool and the upgrading of our sporting precincts.
Supported projects were raised in both local media last week and Council will have a presence in the booth outside the Walcha Newsagency to answer questions today.
Whilst attending the recent National Party branch meeting in Walcha Kevin Anderson also officially opened the local Community Recycling Centre.
This facility has been built with State Government Funding and is self explanatory when you see it. Maybe I harp on about it, but utilising the recycling capability at the Waste Transfer Station is of extreme importance to its future viability.
Our facility only has a limited life and the prospect of building another one is on par with me turning down a scone at a morning tea. We will be over a barrel when we have to find a regional facility to use as they charge on a tonnage basis.
Last Friday Council held a ‘Christmas in July’ function to recognise the hard and diligent work carried out by staff over the last six months.
Bridge, road and water funding have been utilised and staff have carried out the extra work to complete these projects on time and within budget. Along with this the town has been left looking clean and manicured, the roads graded and all other work still maintained. We should not take this level of commitment for granted.
