Following the announcement of Woolies and Coles on July 14 that they will phase out the bags in 2018, Walcha retailers said they too were doing their best to not use them. So we asked our readers if it was ok that they were not offered plastic bags when they shopped and 63 per cent of respondents said yes.
As a further encouragement to support their cause, the Walcha Bag Ladies are offering a cash incentive to shoppers.
Thanks to a recent donation made to them by the Walcha Together Group. Cherie Pethard and crew will give a $50 voucher to four lucky plastic bag-free shoppers over the next eight weeks.
Just place your receipt with your name and phone number into the box provided next time you shop using your own bag at either IGA or Foodworks. The first draw will be on Monday, August 28.
