For residents and ratepayers who attended the Walcha Council regional meetings earlier this year and raised matters of concern, you can be assured that Council is working its way through the list. Some may have already been addressed as they are part of Council’s annual work program; others will be prioritised and acted upon while a few may not be under Council’s control. These meetings are invaluable to Council and information gathered helps set our direction to address residents’ issues. There will be public notification when this is finalised.

One issue that was raised at the regional meetings was the condition of the ramps on some local roads. Council was already reviewing its ramp policy and have since written a draft policy. This policy has been mailed to affected residents and a copy is on Council’s website. This is only a draft policy and input is encouraged if ratepayers feel there is room and need for change. Submissions will be reviewed and the policy will return to the September Ordinary Meeting for reconsideration and refinement.
On the subject of input, Council is seeking assistance with grant applications. These State Government funded infrastructure grants look for community input into what is required. The State Government likes to ensure that grant monies have community support and input.
The Stage 2 Final Report on the water supply dam options for Walcha has been tabled by Council and a copy is available from Council. Consultants to complete Stage 3, a Yield Study on 4 dam sites, have been engaged and this should be completed in around 8 weeks.
Walcha Local Government Area has been granted a part day public holiday for the running of the Walcha Cup in 2018. This is a great result for this dedicated club.
