CONGRATULATIONS to Sam Abraham and Fraser Evans on being invited by the Newcastle Knights to continue training with the club following their good performances at recent trial games.
Unfortunately, Fraser suffered a serious ankle injury and is still recovering from it.
Sam, on the other hand, might be able to seek some advice from his cousin, Daniel Abraham, who was a Knights player between 2000 and 2007. Good on ya, boys.
WALCHA bowler Kyle Goodwin is heading to Ettalong towards the end of this month to compete in the State District reserve Singles Championship where he will play Stephen Collam from Broomshead first up.
Kyle qualified for the knockout titles after defeating his Walcha clubmate Brian Goodwin in the district playoff, and then won three zone matches at South Tamworth. Go gettem, Kyle.
WALCHA Golf Club champion Wayne Brennan and Owen Presnell have a sizeable hike in front of them when they travel about 10 hours to Holbrook this weekend to compete in the NSW Invidividual Sandgreen Golf Championships.
The following weekend, Owen’s wife Julie has nominated for the ladies division of the same championships. Good luck to all three players.
Off to Argentina
WALCHA Rams player Simon Newton has been selected in the Australian Stockies Rugby Union team to tour New Zealand and Argentina from October 22 to November 13.
The squad comprises 25 players currently playing country football, or who have done so in the past.
The Stockies play two games in Auckland and then three in Argentina. Best of luck to you, Simon.
STILL on rugby, Walcha have nominated a team in the Phnom Penh 10s competition to be played in Cambodia at the end of the month.
The boys will be decked out in red and white zebra guernseys to celebrate the occasion.
Heard a whisper there may be a couple of Roos making the trip also.
