FORMER Walcha Golf Club champion Andrew Brennan is currently playing in the world's richest professional trainee tournament – the National Futures Championship – at Ballarat where after his opening round on Tuesday, he was in a tie for fifth position after he carded a two under par 70. Only 19-years-old, Andrew Brennan was three shots behind leader Frazer Droop at that stage of the competition which is played over four rounds and has prizemoney of $60,000.

CONGRATULATIONS to former Walcha residents Murray and Dimitry Fenwicke on winning the Colleen Cross Memorial golf trophy last Sunday after they posted a stableford score of 47 points. LOCAL roughrider Ryson Smith has been invited to ride in a Pro Rodeo Bullriding Invitational Event at Richmond this Friday night. All the top pro riders will be in action there and then the following morning, Tyson needs to be in Warwick at 9am to compete in the Australian Pro Series. Go gettum, Tyson.

Talking touch
ALTHOUGH Walcha Touch Football still has no secretary following a poorly attended meeting at the Apsley Arms Hotel on Tuesday, at least the position of treasure has been filled after Katherine Smith put her hand up to do the job. President Ben Ussher has decided to push on this season but the position of secretary remains vacant. Anyone interested?
A DECISION was made to kick the touch season off on Thursday, November 9, with a grading day and if you are keen to nominate a team this season, go to the Walcha Touch Football Facebook page for directions. Playing fees this season have been set at $68 for adult players and $20 for schoolkids or players under 18 years. The second child in any family will cost $10, and the third one is free.

A REMINDER the Walcha Rugby League will be conducting an emergency meeting this Sunday at the bowling club from 3pm in a second attempt to find a president, secretary and treasurer after Peter Berry, Robyn Broadbent and Jenny Latham have all indicated they will not be standing for their respective positions for next season. No executive committee would mean no footy next season. Anyone interested in these positions?
