Walcha Council has recently completed the construction of a Niche Garden at the Woolbrook Cemetery.

“This is is a specially designed garden where ashes of the deceased are placed,” said Director of Engineering Dylan Reeves.

“Two sets of ashes are able to be placed in each plot and there are thirty two plots in this garden.”

Mr Reeves said the garden was the same design as the Niche Gardens in the Walcha General Cemetery and will have the same style plaques and blue pearl bases which are placed on the surface of the plot.

The cost of reserving a plot in the Niche Garden is $550.00 (inc GST), the cost of interning the ashes is $380.00/internment (inc GST) .

The plaque and base are charged at cost.
