A contingent of Walcha Central School students contested the annual Tamworth Interschools Horse Extravaganza when the annual competition got underway on October 13.

The four-day event saw 550 riders take part with schools coming as far away as Snowy Mountains through to southern Queensland.
Events included the first interschools campdraft, one day events, from 45 cm to 1*, showjumping, dressage – preliminary through to elementary, sporting, Woof and Hoof competition, horseball and a working horse challenge.
Walcha’s Hannah Dunn took on the sporting for first in flags, fifth in barrels and pole bending, a win in the bonfield bounced and fifth in the wagon wheel.
Chloe Swanton also finished with placings including fourth in bending, third in flags, fifth in barrels, fifth in snakes and ladders, fifth in the Cambooya Classic and fifth in wagon wheel.
Charlotte Overton snagged fifth in pole bending, Cambooya Classic, bonfield bounce and wagon wheel.
Charlize Haling took on the tough one day event and heading into the cross country was in seventh place.
A fall during the cross country phase saw Haling ruled out of the competition.
Ana Haling successfully completed all three phases in the Eva95 and finished in the middle of the pack.
She also competed in the straight dressage event for a ninth and 11th placing.
