From Friday, November 10, the descendants of Tia will gather for the Tia Church centenary and reunion.
Organisers say they are looking forward to welcoming the descendants of Tia (DOTs) and other interested people to the weekend’s events.
The official opening of the weekend at 1.30pm on Friday at Tia Union Church will also be the time when the Tia War Memorial Plaque is dedicated.
On Saturday, there will be a gathering at the Walcha War Memorial to take part in the Armistice Day service at 10am. Lunch will then be served back at Tia in the ‘Old Woombi Woolshed’ where a display of historical Tia photos and memorabilia will be on show.
On Sunday, a church service will be held in the Tia Union Church from 10am, followed by the official unveiling of plaques in Tia Cemetery. Following this, a BYO picnic is planned for lunch in the church grounds.
The Walcha Pioneer Cottage and Museum will also be open all weekend.
