Nina Taylor, Ella Ward, Skye Slavin, India Tait, Olivia Whitton, April Downes, Aria Cameron, Erica Menzies, Caitlyn Fittler, Henry Carlon and Hamish Ward were members of the Combined State Small Schools Marimba and String Ensemble which has performed regularly at the Opera House Concerts since the year 1998.
The ensemble was made up of thirty one children from schools across the state.
“The group was a huge hit drawing great praise from the show’s organisers and the audience alike,” said Kentucky Public School principal Danny Spillane.
The Combined State Small Schools Marimba and String Ensemble was also only one of a handful of acts representing rural NSW during a week of concerts with most students coming from performing arts schools in Sydney.
“As well as their official performance, the children visited NSW Parliament House, The Endeavour Replica in Darling Harbour, Taronga Zoo, climbed a pylon on the Sydney harbor bridge, Luna Park, the Olympic Aquatic Centre, had a ferry ride across to Manly Beach, raised about $600 busking and generally “experienced” the city,” Mr Spillane said.
