In week one Chloe Mackaway sliced more than three seconds off the open girls 50 metre freestyle time held by Kareena Potter since 1985 when she stopped the clock at 30.44 seconds. The same day Chloe relieved her older sister Amber of the open 50m backstroke and breastroke records in the respective times of 39.66 and 43.32 seconds.
A week later ‘Nigel’ reduced her backstroke time to 38.72 and bettered the 50m butterfly record held by Sonya Mudfored (now Sweeney) since 1983 by more than four seconds in 35.88 seconds. Last week Chloe lowered the 4x50m open girls record held by Kareena Potter since 1985 by more than 25 seconds in a time of 3:06.04 and then on Tuesday she broke Lyn Levingston’s long standing 200m freestyle time set in 1982 by nearly 20 seconds in 2:46.11.
Earlier this week club president Angus Warden took nearly 15 seconds off the 200m open freestyle set by Dean Hancock in 1984 with 2:32.72 and a fortnight ago his daughter Jemma beat the 10 years girls 50m backstroke time set by Georgia Brown in 2005 to 45.03 seconds. Last week Thomas Micallef bettered the 14 years boys 4x50m medley record held by Dean Hancock since 1983 by nearly seven seconds in 3:06.40 and then went within a whisker of the 200m freestyle time on Tuesday.
