APPARENTLY when Darky’s much-better half Lyn asked him what he was doing with two wallets on Monday morning, he admitted he had picked mine up by mistake the previous evening. But as someone once said a long time ago and was repeated just the other day by Neil – “all’s well that ends well”.

THERE must have been something in the water at the Walcha Golf Club last Sunday, as Neil’s playing partner Gerry Moran did exactly the same thing as Darky. Moran managed to pocket the wallet of club captain Willy Brennan – also by mistake.

AROUND the same time, while holding a conversation with Crichton Barr, there was a mention of how his name is spelt, to which he replied that I was the only person who spells it correctly. Quick as a flash, Wayne Brennan intervened with “so you get it wrong too, Crichton?” and then quickly drove off in his golf cart before Crichton had a chance to reply.

SWIMMING club “head honcho” Angus Warden enjoyed a little adventure down south of the nation a couple of weekends ago where he played a round of golf on the Royal Adelaide course and then attended the day-night Ashes cricket test on the following day. Gus was not too thrilled with his opening 12 holes on the famous course, but reckons he did manage to improve his game on the closing six.

A FEW weeks ago, a certain school teacher and Rabbitohs supporter who resides on the corner of Parkinson and Croudace streets suggested to me that if Australia was forced to pick Shaun Marsh in the test cricket team, we were in strife.

FUNNY old game cricket – Marsh was named “Man of the Match” after Australia won the second test in Adelaide. Oh and by the way, I agreed with the touch football president at the time despite Marsh being left-handed.

THANKS to the Town and Country committee, the pool now has a new set of noodles which receive plenty of use most days. Anyone who has any use for the old ones that are about to be taken to the dump are more than welcome to pick them up from the pool.

ALTHOUGH it happened quite some time ago, there is little doubt the story deserves a mention. When Pakington Street dweller John “aka Bruce Willis” McLean was about to attend a show at St George Leagues Club, he spotted an old bloke having trouble maneuvering his car, so “Bruce” jumped out of his and took over the reigns.

THE good samaritan soon found out that to park the vehicle was a snug fit but soldiered on and was quite proud of himself when he finally got the car parked. That was until the old bloke mentioned he was trying to get his vehicle out of the park, not into it.

COUNCIL parks and gardens employee, Rams footballer and Newcastle supporter Hayden Jarman is that keen to stay fit for next season he was doing some sprint training during a break at the depot last week. His training methods were a bit out of the ordinary but certainly impressed his boss Steph Sweeney and purchasing officer Ron Wicks who were onlookers at the time.

ANYONE who attended the Lions Club Christmas Party on Monday night and left the golf club hungry just wasn’t having a go. There was no shortage of prawns, oysters and fish cocktails served up by hard working Lions members. Great to see such a good roll up for the shindig.

THE golf club held their annual presentation night last Sunday which was attended by a good crowd who enjoyed a barbecue dinner and a few complementary beverages. Organisers would have been happy with the roll up both for the prize giving and 4BBB medley played earlier in the day.

GROUP 4 have released a draw for 2018 but it doesn’t indicate what days the Roos and Jillaroos are scheduled to play – whether it be Saturday or Sunday. At least both teams are drawn to play at the same ground away games then home and away to complete the opening nine rounds, before the complete draw is then reversed for the closing nine rounds.

WALCHA Rugby League were holding a meeting last night to discuss what their options could be.
