Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC) mayor Andrew Hope is encouraging the region’s export-ready businesses to attend a free workshop designed to prepare them for expanding their business into the ASEAN markets.

A state government initiative, The NSW Export Capability Program workshop is being held on Tuesday, March 20, between 9.30am and 2pm, at Wests Diggers Club in Tamworth.
Cr Hope, who is also current chair of Namoi Unlimited Joint Organisation (JO) of councils, said there is huge potential for economic development through trade with China and other Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), and that this initiative segues nicely with the JO’s China Engagement Project.

“The workshop will cover ways to develop and implement a comprehensive market entry strategy for ASEAN markets, presented by Asialink Business and expert tips on e-commerce, presented by Austrade,” he said.
“The Namoi region is the premier agricultural zone in Australia and LPS is an important component of it.
“We are now in a globally competitive market and the member council’s of the JO want to facilitate access to new consumers markets for our agricultural produce.
“The Australian agriculture sector is poised for significant growth and demand for Australian agricultural commodities and produce is expected to increase.
“I want to see the LPS and Namoi region benefit from this growth which has great potential to grow employment opportunities for our communities.
The Namoi region is the premier agricultural zone in Australia.

“To support this growth, it is vital that producers and the likes of agricultural processing facilities are up-to- date and aware of the possibilities, and seize the opportunities being offered.
“Workshops such as the NSW Export Capability Program provide an excellent pathway to assist businesses that are export-ready.”
