SAM is also a member of the Newcastle Knights S.G. Ball squad that won their qualifying semi final 18-6 against Penrith last Saturday. He plays for the Macquarie Scorpions in the Newcastle competition. Good on ya Sam.
THE Lefthanders are this year’s golf champions after the “Mollydookers” rounded up the Righthanders quite comfortably last Sunday. Stand in captain Mal Ballard lead from the front accumulating 42 stableford points the best score by five points, while vice-captain A.J Cross Snuck home by two point on a card draw with John McCormack. It must be noted however Mal, and yours truly were the only two “lefties” in the field of 27 while the Righthanders had the rest representing them.
THE Walcha Jillaroos bounced back last Saturday when they rounded up Ashford 38-12 at John Oxley Sportsground. The previous weekend the Jillaroos went down to Uralla 32-16 and this Saturday take on Guyra who received a 44-10 touch up off Uralla at Guyra last Saturday.
AFTER two rounds of the Group 19 Second Division competition the Walcha Roos are still finding their feet and losing “Smiling Assassin” Centre Lee Harrison early in the game against Ashford last Saturday didn’t help the Roos cause. Due to a lack of numbers and players with other commitments the Roos have forfeited to the Guyra Superspuds this Saturday but the Jillaroos will still be playing Guyra in their Ladies League Tag match. Sadly I can’t remember the Roos forfeiting a match before, but that is not say it hasn’t happened.
THE Walcha Rams continued on their winning way when they defeated the Highlanders at Inverell last Saturday to the tune of 43-24 while the “Reggies” went down in their match. Walcha are currently on top of the Central North Competition ladder equal with Barraba/Gwyder and Pirates on 10 points. This Saturday the Rams host Pirates in both grades. Up the Red and Whites.

The competition was very closely fought with Cheryl McDonald coming out champion on 244 strokes and Bec Andrews runner up on 250. B division finished with Alison Cameron and Lorraine Walshe both on 272. The play off was won by Alison. C division was won by Barb Mulligan on 285 and runner up was Vicki Szipitalak on 316. Along with the final round of our championships the ladies played a stroke round for a trophy from Paperdolls. The winner was Ophelia Heffernan on 62, with Julie Olrich, Alison Cameron and Lorraine Walshe coming in on 66. All three played off the same handicap of 22, carding 88 off the stick. Deb Richards 67 and Polly Locke on 68 also received balls for great scores. NTP on 3 went to Alison and on 16 to Donna Martin. Next week we will be playing stableford for Julie Hoad’s trophy.
