Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the museum will receive $1,820 in funding through the Volunteer Museum Small Grants Program, administered by Museums & Galleries of NSW (M&G NSW) to facilitate vital improvements for volunteer-run museums across the state.
“The Walcha & District Historical Society is a fantastic part of the community and it’s wonderful to know that this support will lead to some valued improvements,” he said.
“This investment is very welcome and I look forward to seeing the results.”
The museum will use the funding to re-design and re-print out-dated advertising brochures for the Pioneer Cottage and Museum complex.
Mr Anderson said volunteer-led organisations like the Walcha District and Historical Society hold a special place in communities across NSW.
“I am delighted to be able to continue supporting their efforts with regular improvements,” he said.
“By boosting the capability of our museums, these improvements play an important part in increasing participation from locals and visitors and ultimately boost the excellence of our cultural offering for the State as a whole.
“I am pleased to hear about these successful applications for funding and welcome hearing from these volunteer groups who have funding submissions.
“If I can assist during the submission process, please let me or my office know,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Under the program, in the first of two annual funding rounds, eleven community museums from regional NSW will benefit from a total of $17,864.70.
