‘TOP Shelf Rockies’ CEO Stuart Wellings was experiencing a mildew problem in his bathroom not long back so he decided to fix it by engaging a high pressure hose to remove the mould.

Not only was Stu successful in getting rid of the mildew he also removed a couple of tiles and a few spots of paint as well. Or so the story goes.

THERE was plenty of discussion about who should have been ‘Man of the Match’ following game three of the State of Origin last week including one suggestion from Roosters supporter and Lawn Bowls Pairs Champion Barry Kliendienst who thought “Coyd Bordiner” should have received the award.

‘BAZZA’ was celebrating his big bowls win with his offsider Kyle Goodwin at the time along with the runners-up Willy Makham and DG Clare and he was on his second or third V.B. when he mixed up Boyd Cordiner’s name. Don’t worry Baz we all knew who you meant.

FORMER Jillaroos player Michelle Wayte got things a bit mixed up recently as well when she declared “Only the dead die young”.

And then a couple of days later ‘shell’s uncle Jamie Wall reckoned he needed a “bachelor” when he meant a “maid”. No doubt Michelle and Jamie will be able to explain it better.

BULLDOGS supporter Bradden “Biggles” Jackson went to “Drone” school last week in Dubbo where he learnt the finer points of becoming a drone pilot.

By all accounts Bradden received over 98 per cent in his first exam followed by 100 per cent on day two before passing with flying colours on the final day.

“JACKO” participated in the course as part of his Forestry employment and had “Biggles” put on him by his good mate Wayne Brennan after he arrived home last weekend.

NOT sure how pleased Punch can get but Urban Works Supervisor Steph Sweeney seemed that way when he left the council chambers last week after a meeting with part of the hierarchy.

The “Golden Haired Wonder Child” must have had important things on his mind because just after that he attempted to climb into the work vehicle of head mechanic Stephen “Pole” Bath.

When quizzed about it Stevie reckoned he was checking to see if “Pole” had left his lights on.

LAST week as I strolled past Prime Meats Anne Thomson gave me a nice little wave and a hello before informing me she had mistaken me for someone else.

When I quizzed Anne about who the other person was, she replied, “You know that block who does the spraying”.

A short time late it suddenly came to Anne - Graham Forbes.

THE Walcha Musical Society production “Backhand Joe and the Blood Red Ruby” opens this Saturday night followed by a matinee on Sunday.

The final two shows will performed the following Friday and Saturday. Best of luck guys and as they say in showbiz “break a leg!”

DURING the State of Origin footy series, patrons of the New England Hotel who have chosen to watch the games at the pub were treated to some very nice bar snacks which spilled over to darts last Thursday night.

A big thank you from those people to Bob, Desiree, Kate Natty, Emma Hillier and Lisa Swanton for their involvement and hospitality along with 3.I.C. Perc Berry.

WALCHA Rugby League will be conducting a fundraiser auction with Special Anzac guernseys to go under the hammer.

Proceeds to go the Walcha Support Group, Buy a Bale New England North West and the Walcha Rugby League Injured Players Fund.

Come along with a few spare dollars and support some worthy causes when you purchase a good looking jumper. All the action commences around 5.30pm at the BC this Saturday.

A COUPLE of fellow Walcha Council employees Tess Dawson and Ron Wicks will rack up another 12 months on the planet when they celebrate birthdays in the next few days.

Tess will reach the milestone of 50 years next Monday while Ronnie hits 62 on Sunday. Hope you both have a great day guys.

LAST week there was a mention about the long suffering and eternally patient journalists who bring my work to life so it appears on this page each week.

I can’t remember writing that part of the paragraph but someone certainly thought it was worth a mention.

Seriously though I have always had sincere appreciation of the work put in to translate my handwriting into readable print each week.

A huge thank you to every single journalist or typist that has had a go at it over the past 30 odd years because it certainly would have been a challenge from time to time.
