EARLIER in the year Kyle joined forces with his father Stephen and Dion Bird to win the triples Crown against Greg Carter, Jamie Kerr and Gordon Bird 28-10. JUST to ice the cake Kyle snuck home 31-30 to defeat Chris Cameron in the singles final that went right down to the wire. Congratulations Kyle on a mighty effort, a great all round performance in anyone’s book.
THE Roos and Jillaroos take on Uralla here at the Park on Saturday with both visiting teams currently leading the respective 2nd Division and Ladies League competitions. Both Walcha teams then head to Guyra the following Saturday to tackle the Super Spuds in what will be the Roos and Jillaroos final competition games of the season. Up the Green and Gold.
ALTHOUGH the Roos are out of semi final contention, the Jillaroos will finish in second position on their points score ladder, meaning they will get two bites of the cherry after qualifying for the Ladies League major semi final no matter what happens in the next fortnight. They will play Uralla in the major semi, the only team they have lost to this season but hopefully the Jillaroos can lower the Uralla colours this Saturday – Go Girls.
The Jillaroos will finish in second position on their points score ladder, meaning they will get two bites of the cherry.
FOLLOWING the Walcha Rugby League Anzac Guernsey auction at the bowling club this Saturday evening the Roos, Jillaroos and supporters are conducting their annual Christmas in July Dress Up Night with this year’s theme “Ugly Sweater or Outfit”.
ENTERTAINMENT will be supplied by D.J. Buckeye and Teethy. There is little doubt there will be some good outfits trotted out Saturday night. Hope to see you there.
THE Walcha Rams are currently equal third on the Central North points ladder with Narrabri and Barraba /Gwydir on 45 competition points. The Rams however have a superior points for and against difference of 288 with Narrabri on 130 and Barraba/Gwydir 103.
WALCHA defeated Quirindi 97-10 at the Park last Saturday but will have much stiffer opposition this Saturday when they travel to Moree to tackle the competition leaders and then hit the road again the following weekend to take on Barraba/Gwydir.
THE Rams will have a fair idea where they are at this season in a fortnight’s time but then still have Gunnedah here at thome before heading sought to score and then finishing the competition proper with the bye in the final round. Go the Mighty Rams.
UNFORUNATELY South African Kevin Anderson was on a hiding to nothing in the Wimbledon Tennis final against Novak Djokovic after winning his semi final against John Isner.
Anderson won the semi three sets to two 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4, 26-24 which took 6 hours 35 minutes to complete including 3 hours for the final set.
Little wonder Anderson lost to Djokovic 3-0 in the final.
