Backhoe Joe and the Blood Red Ruby closed last weekend after four full performances.
Opening night was quiet as usual however the matinee on opening weekend was performed to an audience of more than sixty according to director Mary Kuhr.
“We also had a successful Friday night last weekend and the final night was just about full. We had a lot of fun.”
In 2017 the committee decided not to hold a production because of dwindling numbers in both the audience and the society itself. However, thanks to the persistence of cast member Anne Martin the show did go on in 2018, and it was dedicated to former society member Mathew Dunbar.
On the final night last Saturday following the curtain call, Mrs Kuhr presented Lance Partridge with a gift of thanks for writing the 2018 play.
“You have written many of our productions over the years, and we hope you will write many more for us,” Mrs Kuhr said.
