“The sponsor’s money covered our costs, so everything made on the day we are able to donate,” Walcha Aero Club outgoing president Mike Faulkner said.
More than $6,000 was distributed between the Walcha Support Group, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter support group and the Walcha Lions Club.
The Walcha Lions Club then immediately handed over its cheque to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Support Group.
The final cut for each charity was: $1,700 to the Walcha Support Group, $1,000 for the Walcha Lions Club and $3,600 to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Support Group.
More than 1500 people attended the 2018 Wings over Walcha event – a 300 percent increase on attendees at the previous air show.
The organisers were delighted with the community support and are planning another air show for late 2019.
