To make the final, Sweeney defeated Melissa Eliot in one semi-final while McLaren rounded up club president Bill Wake in the other.
Sweeney won his first championship in 2002 before Gerry Moran won four straight whereas back in the 1990s, Michael Gibson ruled the roos when he won 10, including five on-the-trot.
In B grade, Shane Carter won his opening game against James Norton 9-5, cruised home 9-1 in the second before sealing the deal 9-4 in the third. The C grade decider between Charlie Brown and Mick Wall went the full distance of five games before Brown prevailed 3-2.
He won the first 9-5, lost the next two 9-7, 9-2, snuck home 10-9 in the fourth to even things up before winning the deciding game 9-5.
D grade champion Jono Byrne didn’t have it all his own way but did triumph 3-1 (9-4, 6-9, 9-3, 10-8) against Taylor Carter after getting the job done in a close finish.
