“It’s a great experience for any young person,” organiser and former showgirl Tanisha Daniels said.
“It builds relationships between you and other girls within Walcha and outer regions of our zone, and it helps you believe in yourself.”
A senior and a junior showgirl will be chosen at the show itself, which runs from March, Friday 22 to Saturday 23.
The senior showgirl (18 – 25 years old) will represent Walcha at next year’s zone 4 finals, while the junior showgirl (15 – 18 years old) gets a chance to find out what being a showgirl is all about.

The successful girls must know their local community and current affairs, and be involved in rural life.
“It’s not all about looking pretty!” Tanisha said.
Three independent judges will mark contestants on their rural and general knowledge, personality, confidence, ambition, presentation, and speech.
Tanisha competed at both the 2017 and 2018 zone showgirl events.
“It was a good experience,” Tanisha remembered. “It helped me get a lot of confidence, and to know that anything is possible; you only have to put your mind to it.”
The current showgirls are Sophie Uren (senior), who will represent Walcha in this year’s finals held in Narrabri next month, and Amy Kermode (junior).
The showgirl competition is organized by the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW.
The winners of the zone 4 finals will go to the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and enter the Land Showgirl Competition, which aims to find a young female Ambassador for rural NSW and the agricultural show movement.
