Last year it was announced that Walcha’s bid to host the 2019 Rural Women’s Gathering was successful.
"The ceremonial candle was handed over to Walcha at the 2018 Gathering in Merimbula, and we are now officially on our way to Walcha hosting this great event," said local committee chair Karen Brown.
"The organising committee has begun work to ensure that the event will be memorable for attendees and the whole Walcha community."
Mrs Brown said the theme for the Walcha Gathering is ‘Creating a Natural High’.
"This reflects the progressive art culture Walcha is renowned for, the beauty of our natural environment and the high altitude we thrive in," she said.
"The committee invites people from Walcha and surrounding areas to attend our community information evening where we will update them on the finer details of the event, the program, how the community can be involved, and other matters of interest.
"It will also be a great opportunity for members of the community to ask questions."
While both men and women are invited, Mrs Brown said the committee strongly encouraged local women to be involved in the event as part of the organisation or as attendees.
"We are very thankful for the support that the community groups and service clubs of Walcha have offered to assist in the lead up to and hosting of the Gathering," she said.
