"The demolition of the old preschool took place during January," said community services manager Karen Kermode.
"This work took a bit longer than originally expected, due to finding asbestos in the building. Once this was safely removed work recommenced quickly."
Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes said early childhood education and socialisation is recognised as an integral part of children’s growth and this will be provided at a high level into the future by this Council run facility.
"As a small community we are grateful and aware of how external funding makes these projects possible," he said.
In December 2017, local Member Kevin Anderson announced Walcha Council had received $660,000 to replace the 100-year-old Walcha Preschool building.
