"The improvements at Walcha Oval involve refurbishing the kiosk, change rooms, and public toilets," said Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson. .
"At Captain Cook Park, $127,320 will refurbish the public toilets to include the installation of baby change facilities and accessible toilets for people with disabilities. This is great news for Walcha. It is a rural township that heavily relies on community based services being available to address a variety of organisations' needs. Walcha Oval is regularly used by many sporting and community groups who require the use of well-maintained and properly working facilities."
$108,815 will support the construction of storage facilities for community service clubs in Walcha. This will involve building an insulated, six-bay shed on council land and sealing the access road.
"Walcha relies on community-based services to carry out a vast amount of work that directly benefits the broader community," Mr Anderson said.
"These clubs give back to the community by supporting local projects, providing volunteer assistance, hosting charitable events and much more. This shed is essential for these clubs to continue operating effectively."
