The project was donated by the Hogan family as a tribute to their late parents. Blue Hogan was also the former owner and editor of the Walcha News.
A gathering of those associated with the hospital over the years enjoyed afternoon tea with the family, Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson, Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes, and project manager Gail Carter.
Building began at the beginning of November and was completed in time for Christmas celebrations but was not officially opened until last week.
On a previous inspection of the completed work Mr Anderson said the project was a tribute to the couple who were involved in many community activities.
"They published the local newspaper for many years up till 1977 and they were involved in many town activities," Mr Anderson said.
"Blue was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to the community, and researched the history for the centenary year of the hospital.
"Jean was a patron of the Hospital Younger Set auxiliary and someone who always had the community's best interests at heart.
"I want to congratulate and thank the Hogan family for their contribution to Walcha which will honour Blue and Jean Hogan's name."
