NORTH Street resident and former Golf Club greenkeeper Owen Presnell laid his father Frank to rest at Guyra last Saturday, which one would think isn't out of the ordinary, but wait there's more. Last Saturday was June 1, which would have been Frank's 100th birthday, and although he didn't quite reach his ton, it was a great innings all the same.

Young Rabbitohs supporter Cooper Broadbent is in for a treat when he gets to run out with his South Sydney team before they take on Newcastle at ANZ Stadium
A FEW weeks ago Roos major sponsor Brian Smith received an interesting phone call while travelling from Coffs Harbour, when a bloke called him to enquire about purchasing 20 sticks of wood from the trailer parked outside the New England Hotel displaying the Rugby League's wood raffle prize.
APPARENTLY the adventurer and a few mates were camping in the Walcha district and needed a few sticks of wood. Brian gave them the all clear as long as they donated $20 to the raffle, which by all accounts they did.
LAST Saturday the Roos played in pink guernseys which were auctioned at the Bowling Club later in the day, with all proceeds going to various charities. Earlier in the day racehorse Pretty in Pink saluted at Doomben in Race 4, paying a tidy dividend of $12 50 for the win. Sadly I was far too clever to have a little wager on the winner.
ROOS waterboy Sharks tragic and local larrikin Peter Martin went base over apex in the middle of the cricket pitch here at the Park last Saturday when he slipped over in the area that was quite muddy. Quick as a flash Boogie sprang to his feet, thinking no-one had witnessed his misadventure, but the mud caked to his leg sort of gave it away.
CAUGHT up with Walcha Jockey Club president, Jim Nivison last Sunday playing in the annual Lefthanders vs Righthanders grudge match. He told me he had been in bed for a couple of days with the flu, but was now much better.
WHEN I suggested Jim get away from me because I didn't want to catch it, he quickly informed me that he would have been well past the contagious stage. My only advice is that he stick with being a grazier and leave medical diagnosis to the people who know a bit about it, because since our conversation it has been all downhill, to the point where I just booked a doctor's appointment.
SHOOTING under your age on any golf course is an achievement in itself and during the fairly recent past here on our course it has usually been reserved for sand green specialist John Mann, who has lost count how many times he has achieved the feat.
LAST Sunday 'Ming' received some company when multiple veteran club champion Tim Beamont carded a two over par 72 to sneak home by a stroke under his 73 years of age. It's the second time 'Blowie' has shot under his age. The first time he shot a two under par 68 when he was 69 in 2015.
UNFORTUNATELY the 40 stableford points 'Blowie' scored didn't get used in the Lefthanders vs Righthanders match, nor did the other eight right handed scores of over 35 points, much to the delight of the four 'mollydookers' who played.
THE way the scoring works for this particular event is that the lefthanders' cards (on this occasion four) are removed from the pack and then mollydooker captain Warwick 'Ben' Hogan is called on to draw four cards from the remaining righthanders' cards (20 this time around) before they are matched up with a lefthander.
UNFORTUNATELY for the Righthanders the only winning card drawn out for them was Vicki Szpitalak who rounded me up 38-35 while overall winner on the day Jamie Bowden rolled Lee Fletcher 41-34, Mal Ballard downed Jim Nivison (who may have been crooker than what we thought) 34-27 and 'Ben' snuck home 32-31 against Neil Dark to secure a 3-1 victory for the 'mollydookers'.
YOUNG Rabbitohs supporter Cooper Broadbent is in for a treat when he gets to run out with his South Sydney team before they take on Newcastle at ANZ Stadium tomorrow night. 'Coop' is a junior Souths member and after some investigation from his mother Robyn, will be given a chance to lead the Rabbitohs onto the field.
ROOS president Michael Aspinall reports that his father Warren recently broke his left arm above the elbow before spending time in Walcha Hospital. Not long later Aspro's mother Anne did exactly the same thing and was admitted to Nambucca Heads Hospital. What do you reckon the odds would be?
BIG Wigs of the Week - Apsley - Max Abraham; Bowlies - Peter Hayes; Newie - Michelle Wayte, Alissa West, Josh Gollan, Liam Brennan (all picked the four game card). Vet Supplies - Harry King, Kyle Goodwin, Ray Osborne, Kate Lyon all 6 points.
HAD a little offsider with me in the scorers hut at the Park a couple of Sundays ago who maybe being missed by its owner. The small Irish sheep with pink ears, an orange and green scarf along with green clover on its rump is being detained at my house.
