"The exterior cladding has been finished, and the internal lining was completed last week," Walcha Council community services manager Karen Kermode said.
"Now the painters have started on site."
Walcha Council received $660,000 from the NSW Government to replace the former 100-year-old Walcha Preschool building. The new structure containing two classrooms, toilets, a laundry room, a craft and a teaching kitchen, a storage room, an office and a staffroom is expected to be completed in six weeks. The wall between the two classrooms will have the ability to be opened for preschool functions.
"Once it has been handed over to the Council, the Department of Education will need to inspect it to ensure it complies with the regulations and issue a service approval before we can move the children in," Mrs Kermode said.
