The highlight for me is TRANSMIT, a new gallery program seeking to enrich, energise and connect our local community through digital platforms.
As part of the launch, we've been hosting virtual tours with the National Portrait Gallery, who have loaned artworks including Thea Proctor's Self portrait and Lionel Lindsay's The Jester (self portrait) which are on show as part of The View from 1919 exhibition.
The next one will explore contemporary Australian female artists on Friday, June 28 at 11am and is free and accessible to all.
With funding from the State Government's Regional Cultural Fund, we've been able to install large-scale portable and permanent digital screens, software and equipment.
TRANSMIT is about the transmission of education, knowledge and ideas through digital technology.
Into the future, TRANSMIT will support wide community access to live events that take place at state and national galleries or universities and provide education programs for all ages and abilities. The digital screens will be located both inside the Gallery and externally, to expand public reach in regional Australia.
TRANSMIT is about the transmission of education, knowledge and ideas through digital technology; continuing the philosophy of access to the arts in regional Australia - the principle priority of the Gallery since it opened 100 years ago.
This technology will keep the gallery progressive in 2019 and beyond, plus supports our Education programs.
Education is a huge part of what we do, so providing continual access to information to the community is really important.
We provide learning experiences for a range of visitors, from young children, primary, secondary and tertiary students, and other young people, to teachers and various adult groups.
Our learning programs and events take inspiration from our changing exhibition calendar, with gallery staff and artist educators conducting workshops and other programs.
We believe there is no substitute for experiencing artworks first hand, and we look forward to welcoming you to share in our love of the arts at our fully accessible building sometime soon.
TRANSMIT is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Tamworth Regional Council. Learn more about our exciting list of public programs at www.tamworthregionalgallery.com.au.
