Each year across Australia, the Children's Book Council of Australia(CBCA) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week.
Most schools across Australia stage a fancy-dress book character parade and Walcha Central School parents usually go all-out to ensure their children have fantastic costumes.
This year the bar was set high again, but the Best Effort award must go to the year 8 student who was willing to be dragged around the room on a lead dressed as a carpet snake.
It was also nice to see an old-school Oompa Loompa costume which would make Gene Wilder take a second look.
During Book Week schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature.
St Patrick's Primary School will hold its event next Friday.
