Riders at the 2019 Walcha Pony Camp range in age from 2-years-old to 22-years-old and come from Walcha and clubs all around the region. Pony Camp organisers say that despite the dry conditions the number of attendees is on par with recent years.
While it got off to a hot start on Monday and Tuesday, the weather conditions cooled down to perfection for the remainder of the week. There may event be a shower of rain or two to settle the dust.
More than 35 children are attending camp this year to take part in Walcha's annual spring holiday equestrian event. From Monday until Friday they will experience bison instruction, campdrafting, showjumping, dressage, show riding, obstacles and games, sporting and orienteering.
The week of instruction ends with a gymkhana competition on Saturday, where the young riders can show off the skills they have learned throughout the week.
