A truck from Stroud delivered household goods and fencing materials to Walcha last Saturday to help those affected by the recent fires start to rebuild their lives.

"The Walcha community was overwhelmed last Saturday with a special delivery from our good friends in Stroud," said Walcha Council general manager Anne Modderno.
"In less than one week the Stroud crew raised over $7,500 and two truckloads of goods including one of hay, and another with food, household and fencing materials."
Callum Lund led the fundraising charge with support from the Stroud Central Hotel and Stroud community. The trucks were driven up by Tom Parrish, Boxhead and Hannah Smith.
"The majority of money was raised by a "charity keg" initiative at the Stroud Central Hotel," said Mrs Modderno.
Patrons were seen paying up to $500 a beer
"The pub donated the keg, and the patrons could pay whatever they wanted for a beer - with all money raised donated to helping our friends recover from the current fires. Patrons were seen paying up to $500 a beer."
Walcha Mayor Eric Noakes said the financial value of this donation was far outweighed by the underlying compassion that was felt by their community towards ours.
"Thank you Stroud we will be forever grateful," he said.
