"It has been a good possibility, but (Ibrahimovic) won't join Bologna," the ANSA news agency quoted the club's sporting director Walter Sabatini as saying on Monday.
"It was not a matter of money. (President Joey) Saputo was ready to negotiate, but the footballer has made another choice."
The 38-year-old spoke last week of wanting to play for an ambitious team looking to renew their history, and closed an interview with GQ magazine by saying: "I'll see you soon in Italy."
AC Milan, where he played from 2010 to 2012, winning one of his four Italian titles, are keen on signing him in January, while Napoli are also said to have had contacts, media reports say.
Ibrahimovic won three scudetti at Inter Milan, plus two that were stripped from Juventus in a corruption trial.
He also lifted two domestic titles in the Netherlands with Ajax, one in Spain with Barcelona, and four at Paris Saint-Germain, for a total of 11 domestic championships. In 2017 he won the Europa League with Manchester United.
