There will be lane closures in some work areas on the highway at Mount Seaview - which is on the way from Walcha to Port Macquarie - with traffic control and a reduced speed limit in place.
Work will involve extending guardrail, signage improvements and installing motorcyclist protection rail.
Work will be carried out between 6.30am and 3.30pm from today and is expected to be completed by June 30, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
