A REMINDER the Ray Boyd "Kanga Cup" Memorial to be played this Sunday is a four-person ambrose which will commence with a shotgun start at 12 noon.
Students in the swim
ALTHOUGH full details haven't been received by myself at this stage, there was mention that the majority of Walcha Central School students who competed at the NSW Swimming Championships at Homebush last week performed well and there were plenty of personal bests in the pool. Good on ya, guys, and a full report of the championships event will be made after I collect the relevant information.
Footy news
THE footy "double header" played at the Park last Saturday was a successful one despite Inverell being unable to field a reserve grade team for their Central North clash with the Rams. Both the Roos and Jillaroos opened their 2019 Group 19 second division accounts when they registered good wins over Tenterfield, while the Rams overpowered Inverell.
THERE was a downside though, when the Rams lost Troy Yarnold with a dislocated shoulder he suffered while scoring a try, and Roos centre Tristan Flower received severe facial injuries during friendly fire from his teammate Drew Bird.
ROOS hooker Daniel Pascoe was a relieved player when he finally made it on to the paddock after missing the previous game against Uralla due to straining a calf muscle during the warm up. "Zampa" had a solid game on Saturday and set up the first try to Brody Smith with a clever inside pass.
JILLAROOS co-coaches Robyn Broadbent and Bonnie Brown both led from the front against Tenterfield with Robyn scoring a try and kicking a couple of goals, while Bonnie touched down as well. The referee gave Robyn three group points and Bonnie two.
