The Kentucky students were members of the combined State Small Schools Marimba and String Ensemble which has performed regularly at the Opera House Concerts since 1998.
The group was made up of 33 children from schools across the state including two local students from Yarrowitch and four from Niangala.
The Ensemble was a huge hit drawing great praise from the show’s organisers and the audience alike.
The group was also only one of a handful of acts representing rural NSW during a week of concerts with most students coming from Performing Arts Schools in Sydney.
As well as their official performance, the children visited local state member Adam Marshall at Parliament House, climbed to the top of the South Eastern Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, toured the inner sanctums of the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium, had ferry ride across to Manly Beach, raised about $500 busking and generally “experienced” the city!
