Council said the recycling drop-off point was requested by rural households to help make disposing of recycling more convenient when coming to town to run their errands.
“This new facility assists residents in being able to more readily access recycling facilities, increasing participation by the community in recycling, which in turn supports Council in achieving the community strategic goal of reducing the amount of waste going to landfill,” said Tess Dawson.
“The recycling drop-off point has bins for all the common household recyclables - paper and cardboard, plastics and glass and can be accessed 24/7.
Also, next to the recycling drop-off is a recently installed recreational vehicle dump ezy point. For Recreational Vehicle visitors to town the dump ezy point provides disposal facilities for black and grey water, along with rubbish disposal.”
Ms Dawson says encouraging visitors to Walcha to use the dump ezy will discourage littering in the Walcha district and help eliminate the environmental problems associated with illegal dumping.
