Pool manager AJ Cross, said pool is pretty much ready to go for the season opening on November 15.
“We have got Kristy Lawrence who is returning for another season and Rachel Fenwicke is our new attendant who is also training to become a paramedic at the moment,” Mr Cross said.
“Council’s water and sewer employee Robert Powell will be the back-up attendee.”
Water temperature yesterday was nearly 23.5 degrees Celsius, which was a little chilly but not too bad.
Swimming Club will get under way on Tuesday, November 18 with a return to the ‘old’ format, separating squad and race days.
During the Christmas school holidays Mr Cross will – for the 33rd consecutive year – offer swimming lessons to children. He is now teaching second and third generations of kids.
“I’ve given swimming lessons the whole time I’ve been here,” he said.
To organise a lesson, just catch up with him at the pool.
Bookings are also now open for Sport and Recreation swimming lessons in Walcha in the New Year.
Sport and Recreation project officer Paul Kelly said Swim and Survive was based on the Royal Life Saving Society’s national industry standard program and is taught by qualified instructors.
He said it teaches vital water safety and swimming skills.
“Swimming is not only fun and great exercise it is also a potentially life-saving skill,” he said.
“Kids and parents will notice the results that come from the extra practice of a daily program.”
The classes will run from January 5 to 15, 2015 and cost $48 for infant and preschool classes or $67 for school age classes (sibling discounts available), plus pool entry fees.
