Organisers say Fashions in the Field is shaping up to be a major feature again and the social committee are excited to welcome Shelley Relf from the New Birds Boutique as a major sponsor this year.
She will join Savages Menswear and Turners Armidale as the three major sponsors of the Fashions on the Field competition.
Two Tamworth fashion designers have been selected as the judges for this year’s events, with both judges having extensive experience in fashion and racing.
“Gemma Swab from Ammeg Designs and Kay Jeffrey of KLJ Millinery will lend their expertise to the afternoon to help determine who are the most fashionable racegoers on the day,” said committee member Amanda Nivison.
“Categories include classic lady, fashionable filly, classic gentleman, best dressed couple, most colourful, and a millinery award for the best hat or fascinator worn on the course.”
Amanda said the committee was grateful for the ongoing sponsorship of generous local individuals and retailers who have supported this event for many years.
“It is only through the generosity and support of these and other local that we can create such a fantastic pool of prizes to ensure the Walcha Races Fashions on the Field remains competitive,” she said
As with each year, the judges will be roaming the crowd looking for the most outstanding and stylish racegoers and will select a number of finalists to receive prizes on the day.
“These judges know their race wear so dust off the hats, suits and frocks everyone, it’s going to be a great event,” Amanda said.
