With leading-lady Anne Martin and director Mary Kuhr both hindered by serious foot injuries, the society was forced to change the dates but hopes the new dates will allow for better audiences. It has certainly allowed the cast time to produce a more polished production.
The action begins in Walcha’s mid west saloon when three nasty desperadoes try to cash in on saloon proprietors Dolorus and her beautiful daughter Laura until the robbery runs completely amok. Hank the Hunk a cowboy played by Jamie Wall, Lucky the Gambler played by Ben Ussher and Dipso the Drunk played by Tony Martin completely baffle the terrible Desperadoes.
Rose and Lily, our two lovely saloon girls played by Karen Moore and Mary Kuhr, and the crafty, cheating Clarabel played by Sue Harrison will have the audience in laughter from start to finish. The play is extremely funny and even the sheriff (who looks a lot like Dipso the Drunk) seems to run into a few problems sorting out the Desperadoes.
Dolorus, to her disappointment, soon discovers that the sheriff does not venture from around Walcha because he doesn’t drink.
Come along and discover what good fortune befalls the dirty plucking hillbilly chook farmers Adam and Pa Skittle and how hillbilly Adam wins the heart of beautiful Laura. The hillbillys are played by Michael Luchich and Lance Partridge while Anne Martin and Rebecca Harrison play Dolorus and Laura.
Get in early for bookings at New Birds because the seats are selling fast particularly for the last two nights.
The Musical Society would love to see bumper bookings for all four of our performances and we look forward to seeing you at this year’s hilarious production.
