The whirlwind automotive extravaganza had a huge number of entrants and filled the largest show space in its history. A total of 27,150 fans flooded through the gates during the weekend event to experience this unique spectacle.
Danny’s entry ‘Jasper’ is made from a new Holden Commodore that has been grafted onto an old 63EJ ute which was formally owned by the late Jasper Brookes.
The winning result is a team effort from across the region according to Danny.
“I thought up the design and project managed the build with Scotty Cox in Uralla who also did the metal fabrication,” said Danny.
“Then it went to Uralla mechanic Gary Dunn before heading up to Ray Sweeney in Guyra for the panel beating and finally to Johnny McDiamond from Guyra Smash Repairs for the paintwork.”
This is not the first time the car has received accolades since its creation a few years ago.
‘Jasper’ was invited to enter in as one of the 100 top cars at MotorEx following a series of showings in Moree, Gunnedah,Yamba,Tamworth,Canberra and Sydney; the car was declared Grand Champion at all.
Danny also made it into the top 60 in the Elite section of the Australian annual Summernat car show in Canberra where ‘Jasper’ won best retro car taking old to new.
“We want to congratulate all of our incredible award winners and thank our entrants and exhibitors for making this Meguiar’s MotorEx one to remember, ” said Bruce Morrison, MotorActive/Meguiar’s MotorEx managing director.
“The weather was perfect and it was great to see so many people out together, smiling and enjoying the show. That is what gives us the greatest pleasure. We are car people first and foremost so we are very proud to see how alive and vibrant automotive culture is in Australia.”
