Premier Flippers competitor Chloe Mackaway received the Jess Mathews outstanding achievement award for the fourth time in six seasons when the Walcha Swimming Club held their annual presentation last week. The prestigious award is in honour of late Flippers member Jess Mathews who was tragically killed in a horse riding accident and has been gone since 2012.

Only three swimmers have won the prize, Chloe in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017, her older sister amber in 2014 and Zac Warden in 2015.
During the season ‘Nigel’ set five new records in the 100 metre and 200 metre freestyle, 200 metre individual medley and twice in the 50 metre butterfly, all in the 16 year girls division.
The other two ‘Walcha World Records’ broken this season were by Zac Warden in the 12 year boys 200 metre individual medley and his sister Jemma in the 10 year girls 50 metre butterfly.
Special awards went to Thomas Micallef who received the Clarice Flanagan trophy for his efforts both in and out of the pool, Bella Crawford and Zac Warden picked up the Patrons prize while club encouragement awards went to Poppy McLaren and Charlie Morgan. During the season there were no less than 671 personal best times registered with 99 of them during the two rounds of the championships. Hopefully all other trophy winners on presentation day will be listed inside this edition.
