CONGRATULATIONS to the Walcha Flippers on another great season and to all the people that make it happen. A special mention for club president Angus Warden whose high level of enthusiasm never diminishes which drags others along in his slipstream. Gus would have been a proud dad when his three kids Zac, Jemma and Hamish, all finished age division club champions this season. Just for good measure, Zac and Jemma broke a record each while “Hammer” went back to back 8 years champion.

THREE swimming champions in the one family is nothing new - the Mackaway trio Amber, Chloe and Abbey achieved the feat from 2014 to 2016 when all three finished age division champions.
GOOD luck to all the Walcha Central School students representing North West at the NSW Swimming Championships in Sydney next week. Chloe Mackaway and Zac Warden will swim in individual events before Chloe teams up with Chyna Smith, Briar Eckford and Ashleigh Wall in both the 4 X 50 metre freestyle and medley relays. Chloe and Chyna are also in the Central Schools mixed relay with Thomas Micallef and Murdoc Chawner while Jemma Warden, Poppy Mcharen, Bella Mooney and Sara Morris are in the Primary School junior relay. Not a bad effort – 11 reps at the state titles.
THE Roos came back to earth with a thud when they went down to Bendemeer last Saturday. Injuries to key players within the space of a few minutes didn’t help matters, nor did the mistake rate which the players know cost them the game. The Jillaroos on the other hand, made it two out of two with a hard-fought victory off the Bendy girls.
CONGRATULATIONS to Austin Scrivener who won the U/18s woodchop at Tamworth Show last weekend. Not bad for a 14-year-old who is now off to the Royal Easter Show to compete and will team up with his father Allan in the Dad and Lad chop. Allan will also partner his eldest son Mitchell in the Father and Son chop if Mitch has fully recovered from an eye injury he suffered playing rugby recently.
