On his way to the championship decider, Jamie rounded up Kyle’s father Steve who is a nine-time club champion himself.
“Normie” did mention it is his aim to notch up 10 titles before Kyle does.
ALTHOUGH the Walcha Roos were coming home with a wet sail last Saturday at Boggabri they then ran out of time and went down by six points.
Fullback “Dizzy” Eveleigh was once again a standout for the Roos and was rightly rewarded with three club best and fairest points, two group points along with players’ player.
Back rowers Brody Smith and Andrew “Kerno” Kelly were like terriers in defence and picked up the other club points.
THE Walcha Jillaroos remain in second position on their points score ladder just a couple of points behind competition leaders Kootingal and two points clear of both Dungowan and Uralla.
The Roos on the other hand, have dropped down to 10th spot on their ladder, but are just one point behind Uralla and Boggabri, and two points behind Werris Creek who they take on here at the Park this Saturday.
THE Walcha Rams have got off to a great start in the Central North competition and are equal front-runners on 15 points with Pirates after three rounds.
On the weekend they defeated Inverell 34-10 last Saturday.
Walcha will host the Gunnedah Red Devils this Saturday at John Oxley Sportsground as the rugby league will be in action at the Park.
IT could be a long, hard season for the Rams reserve grade team if they don’t find a few more players to bolster their ranks.
Once again the “Reggies” were forced to take the field several players short of a full team against the “Highlanders”, and that was obviously reflected in the final score.
It wouldn’t take too much to turn things around for the lads, so take a look around for those footy boots, grab a mate, and give them a helping hand.
If you are interested in having a trot, there is little doubt the Rams coaching staff would welcome you with open arms.
GOLF organisers were disappointed with the roll-up for the annual tri-club three-person ambrose event last Sunday sponsored by the golf, rugby league and rugby union clubs.
Just 21 players turned up to make up seven teams.
The scheduling of the event on Mother’s Day may have had something to do with the lack of numbers.
CONGRATULATIONS to the Walcha Veterans Golf team who won the 2017 New England Pennants competition in Guyra a fortnight ago.
Well done to all the players who have contributed to the overall victory throughout the four rounds, not just the players who travelled to Guyra
